Reading the newspaper today I came across this line:
Roger Kimball's "The Rape of the Masters" (Encounter, 186 pages, $25.95) is labeled "art criticism" on its dustjacket, but it might be better classified as a "cri de coeur."What the frick is cri de coeur? Is this something I should've known, and this post is just making me look stupid? I will admit, my French vocabulary begins and ends with Dijonnaise. Also, what in the world is "art?"
