Politics is a controversial topic, but I'm pretty sure this post will be something most reasonable people can agree on. The selection of candidates for the 2008 Presidential election leaves much to be desired. Some people are hoping for Bloomberg or Thompson or Charles Barkley to come in and save the day, but I really don't think it will address the underlying weakness in our current field of candidates.

In case you have been living under a rock, I'm sure you've noticed that the guy running Iran is one of the students who took American hostages back in the '70s. You've probably also noticed that Danny Ortega is back stirring up trouble in Nicaragua.

So I would like to propose the reasonable step of electing Oliver North to guide us through these trying times. The man has a proven track record of dealing decisively with both Iran and Nicaragua -- valuable experience that should be appealing across party lines. Bloomberg seems like a nice guy, but I'm sure if he were given the nod he would start a massive smoking cessation program in Tehran and Managua.
